No one was hurt early Friday morning when a fire destroyed a South Knox County home.
Crews from Rural/Metro Fire Department were sent to a reported house fire at 1208 Navy Drive about 3:19 a.m., according to a Rural/Metro spokesperson.
“When crews arrived they discovered a single family home completely engulfed by flames with the roof collapsing,” a Rural/Metro statement said. “The fire was brought under control quickly but the overhaul and cleanup was extensive due to the amount of debris from the roof collapse.”
The owner wasn’t home and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office is looking for them.
The cause was under investigation.
Rural/Metro urged people to keep their guard up when it comes to fire safety.
During the brief cold snaps, its easy to slip back into those bad habits with space heater safety, just as an example,” the spokesperson said. “Always be careful with those forms of heat, and always ensure your smoke detectors are working properly, no matter what season it is!”
