One man was killed in a “road rage” incident Friday morning in North Knox County, authorities say.
Harry Walker Fersner Jr., 40, of Knoxville was gunned down in the confrontation with an unnamed person or persons that took place on Dry Gap Pike, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
“All parties involved in (the) incident” were taken to the department’s headquarters at the City-County building in downtown Knoxville for questioning, a press release stated.
No criminal charges appear to have been filed thus far, records show.
“The initial investigation shows Mr. Fersner was shot during a road rage incident:” Sheriff Tom Spangler said in a written statement. “The investigation remains active. Therefore, no additional comments can be made at this time. We will update you as the investigation progresses.”
Fersner’s death was the fifth homicide this year in the unincorporated areas of Knox County under the jurisdiction of the Sheriffs Office.
