TOWNSEND, DE — Delaware State Police arrested a Newark man after a multi-month drug distribution investigation that authorities say centered on Townsend. Troopers identified the suspect as 31-year-old Wilkin Dejesus-Perez and said he faces felony drug charges following the probe.
According to the agency, the case began in June 2026 after troopers received information that Dejesus-Perez was distributing narcotics in the Townsend area. Detectives with the Special Investigations Unit then took over the case and determined he was allegedly selling drugs from a Honda Accord. The investigation ended on July 29 when detectives spotted the vehicle at a convenience store on the 4200 block of DuPont Parkway.
Traffic Stop And Search
Investigators said they stopped the Accord at about 11 a.m. and took Dejesus-Perez into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle followed, and detectives reported finding multiple suspected narcotics along with other items tied to the investigation.
The seizure included about 34 grams of suspected crack cocaine, about 2.8 grams of suspected cocaine and about 6.8 grams of suspected heroin. Troopers also said they recovered a fraudulent Delaware identification card and more than $2,200 in suspected drug proceeds. Those findings formed the basis for the charges filed after the stop.
Charges Filed By Troopers
Dejesus-Perez was taken to Troop 9 and charged with several offenses, including two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance Tier 3 quantity. He also faces two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance Tier 3 quantity, along with a separate felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Additional charges include second-degree forgery, also a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Delaware State Police said he was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court after the arrest. The department’s release did not provide any information about a defense response or indicate whether the investigation involved additional suspects.
Bond And Custody Status
After arraignment, Dejesus-Perez was committed to the Department of Correction on an $84,200 cash bond, according to state police. The agency’s release listed the charges and noted that the arrest stemmed from the investigation into alleged drug distribution in Townsend.
Authorities also included the standard warning that anyone charged in the case is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. That presumption applies as the case moves through the legal process.
